Several sources linked to WielerFlits have revealed that the 29-year-old climber Antwan Tolhoek, formerly of Lidl -Trek, will be one of Portuguese team's Sabgal - Anicolor Cycling Team's reinforcements for next season.
Tolhoek did not see his contract extended by
Lidl-Trek after more than a year and a half out with a knee injury, which prevented him from being able to show his worth at the highest level in the World Tour peloton.
At Sabgal-Unicolor, Tolhoek will try to relaunch his career. Let's remember that he started out at Roompot-Oranje Peloton in 2016, through the Rabobank training team and an internship at Tinkoff-Saxo. There, he made an immediate impression in his first season, which led LottoNL-Jumbo to sign him immediately. After several promising years, the climber seemed to have a secondary role in the Dutch World Tour team, so he chose to take his career in a different direction. At Lidl-Trek, he had more opportunities, but was never able to take advantage of them due to a persistent knee injury.
This unveils the Portuguese team's first international signing, which shows an even more ambitious project, taking another step towards the long-awaited promotion to the next level and which, with the arrival of a new partner, Sabgal Foods, finally seems to have legs.
