Antonio Morgado continues discovery journey through cobbled classics at Gent - Wevelgem: "I want to do better in Flanders"

António Morgado is one of the two Portuguese cyclists at the start of Gent - Wevelgem. The other Portuguese rider in the peloton will be national champion Ivo Oliveira, who is also Morgado's teammate at UAE Team Emirates. The 19-year-old has achieved good results in the pavé classics, notably with second place in Le Samyn and is looking to keep testing himself.

Speaking to Portuguese Cycling Magazine before the race, António Morgado spoke about his objectives for this Sunday's race: "It's about trying to be in the breakaway of the day and if I can't because it's difficult, trying to get my leaders well placed at the start of the straight. That's where the race will be decided."

After that second place in Le Samyn, higher ambitions can be on the 19-year old's shoulders. This afternoon he should play a supporting role for the likes of Nils Politt and Juan Sebastián Molano; whilst eyeing opportunities to attack in a race where the weather can cause serious damage.

Morgado also spoke about his objectives for the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix where he will make his debut. "I want to do better in Flanders, I want to do well. So I'm going to take more risks and we'll see how it goes."
