Another One! Portuguese ex-conti rider Nuno Meireles handed a 6-year suspension for anomalies in Biological Passport

On the same day that Frederico Figueiredo and Luis Gomes learned that they have been suspended preventively by the Portuguese Cycling Federation and provisionally by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Authority, where a disciplinary process will take place, for anomalies in their biological passports, the sentence handed down to Nuno Meireles was also revealed.

Nuno Meireles had been with Aviludo - Louletano - Loulé Concelho since 2019 and ended his career in 2023. Meireles' best result in his career was 17th place in the 2021 Volta a Portugal and as a professional he never won any of the races he took part in. This year he accompanied the team from Algarve at the Volta a Portugal... but in the Algarve team's support cars.

Meireles, like Figueiredo and Gomes today, was preventively suspended on November 19, 2023 for anomalies in his biological passport and today we learned the length of his suspension: 6 years, until November 20, 2029, according to the updated list of sanctions provided by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Authority, referenced by the Lusa agency.
