Uno-X Mobility's Alexander Kristoff has prevailed in a frantic finale to the 2024 Heistse Pijl, edging out Casper van Uden and Amaury Capiot, who complete the podium.
With five men getting themselves into the early breakaway, at one point the quintet managed to build up a relatively large advantage over the peloton at around four minutes. Heading into the final 10km though, just one rider remained out front, Axel van der Tuuk of Metec - SOLARWATT p/b Mantel.
Just over 7km to go, the catch of van der Tuuk was finally completed and an intense battle for position ahead of the final ascent of the Heistse Berg climb began in the peloton. In the fight for victory, it was Alexander Kristoff who opened the sprint, and the Norwegian held on for victory too.
