Aleksandr Vlasov will skip Olympic Games with full focus on Tour de France this summer

Aleksandr Vlasov will not participate in the Olympic Games in Paris. The BORA - hansgrohe rider was one of only fourteen Russian athletes to receive provisional approval from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to participate in the Games.
The war between Ukraine and Russia has meant that athletes from Russia and Belarus are not welcome at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. The IOC has decided that individual athletes from the two countries may participate under the neutral flag under certain conditions.

The Russian and Belarusian Olympians must have no ties with their own military or security services and must not support or have supported the Russian invasion. To check this, the IOC has created a special panel.
Vlasov passed the inspection, but has now decided not to travel to Paris, Sporza reports. His full focus will be on another French event this summer - the Tour de France where his team aims for overall victory with Primoz Roglic.

- Those injuries, an ability to manage pain and push himself, probably a load of TUEs to help him get back from an awful moment, and competing that hard without the long exercise base that was the norm - no wonder he was exhausted. We’ve now had two consecutive seasons of the second place rider having an injury that interrupts training, and it shows to what level their bodies are tuned for the insane task of winning the Tour.
