Will Jonas Vingegaard be ready to fight for Maillot Jaune at Tour de France? Sepp Kuss as a back-up leader? Or maybe the new kid in the block Matteo Jorgenson will take over? Regarding Visma | Lease a Bike's plans for Grande Boucle, we know as little as nothing and so many experts are trying to figure out what's going to be Marijn Zeeman's masterplan for July.
Dutch news site WielerFlits naturally are the first to look into their home team's whereabouts. According to them the team, in addition to Vingegaard and Kuss, have another podium candidate in the person of Matteo Jorgenson. The American winter transfer has been paying out dividends to his new team victories at Dwars door Vlaanderen and Paris-Nice. But isn't Grand Tour GC a tad bit huge leap?
Over the course of his professional career, Jorgenson has so far three Grand tour starts with couple stage top 5s from breakaways and 20th spot in GC from 2022. Certainly not the kind of palmares you'd expect from a GC leader in a superteam such as Visma | Lease a Bike is.
The American himself finds debates about his potential leadership quite humorous as is clear from his recent post on X: "Ya'll are unhinged," followed by couple laughing emojis. Could be just part of the game, but it doesn't appear like Jorgenson has his eyes set on chasing flying Slovenians in July.
WielerFlits doesn't stop there as they try to fit the Dane climber into a role of a domestique for either Jorgenson or Kuss. Accordingly, in case Vingegaard is not ready to battle the best, the two-time Tour champion shouldn't find it hard to turn the switch and help his American teammates instead. The idea itself is quite hillarious according to the 24-year-old Jorgenson. Is he trying to imply that Vingegaard will be perfectly ready for Tour? Let's see in a week.

Well let's put it this way, if they get a situation in the Team they'll screw it up ala Vuelta then they'll be a laughing stock of the cycling world 😁

What, by taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd ;-)

All I care about after the first 6 months of this year is that we don’t have any more of those serious crashes during the race

I don't think anyone was laughing at Visma when all the steps of the podium were filled by their riders.

To the non-Americans, the word is y'all, not ya'll.

And on the block not in the block, not going to look further

It will be decided on the road. Jonas if up there in GC will be leader due to his palmares. Jorgensen will be Plan B. Kuss in not in form. WVA will be free agent

No, Jorgensen knows he's not a GC plan B unless Visma is hoping for a top 15 from him as their highest ranked rider. If Jonas and Kuss can't compete, Jorgensen will go for stage wins or maybe the polkadots. He knows he can't keep up in the steepest, longest climbs.
