As a part of his pre-season preparation, Mathieu van der Poel is enjoying the sun at the south in Spain. At that opportunity he's often joined in training by friend and colleague Freddy Ovett. On Tuesday, the two went out for a "small" run - completing a half marathon distance in impressive time of 1 hour and 22 minutes!
Ovett posted a message about it on Strava, with the headline: "Matje sending it". Van der Poel - who hasn't posted his own sporting activities on Strava for a while - responded with a quip to his Australian buddy's post. "I'm probably going to regret this tomorrow," wrote the Dutchman. Ovett had his answer ready for that too: "You regret all the good things in life the morning after."
After the 21.1 kilometers at an average kilometer pace of 3 minutes and 52 seconds, Greg Van Avermaet wondered whether the two had time to talk to each other, or whether they were just ignoring each other. Ovett responded wittily: "I drank a flat white and told my life story."
