Wout van Aert won at Superprestige Heusden-Zolder on a gravel bike!

Wout van Aert took his first victory of the festive period at Superprestige Heusden-Zolder on the 27th of December. Curiously though, the Belgian was not riding a traditional cyclocross bike, but rather a gravel bike.

Usually, van Aert would opt for a R5-CX when taking to the cross however, on this occasion he was seen riding a Cervélo Aspero, the bike which he raced on during the recent Gravel World Championships.

It is not yet known why van Aert made this curious change as he has kept tight-lipped about the switch in recent days. Whatever the reason however, the fact he still managed to triumph in an all-star field (albeit Mathieu van der Poel was absent), shows just how impressive van Aert's form is at the moment, despite the run of second places.
