Following his victories in Niel and Beekse Bergen last weekend,
Laurens Sweeck now adds
Superprestige Merksplas to his triumphs this season. By the second lap, he had established a comfortable distance and maintained it throughout the race.
With each passing week, Sweeck continues to provide impressive results. "The form of my life? Everyone thought I had already ridden very well in Namur, but to my feeling, it wasn't quite top form yet," Sweeck said. He continues, "I think I'm not one hundred percent yet, but it's very good. It can't always go well with everyone. I've also had lesser weeks, but it's going super good now. I'm going to try to hold on to that."
It was his strategy of slowly increasing the gap from the start that gave him the edge in the end. "But I don't think that was the case with anyone. It was small mistakes, not big ones. I was able to make the difference right at the beginning without really having to push. That played to my advantage the whole race," concluded Sweeck.
