Thibau Nys failed to achieve a result during the European championship in Pontchateau, France. The Belgian was unable to finish the race and quickly found himself back in his camper, under a hot shower.
"From the first lap I had the feeling that nothing can be done. I fought the first three laps, but I kept sinking further," he told Het Laatste Nieuws, still shivering from the cold. "I just physically wasn't there."

It didn't stop there for Nys, who also had to deal with a flat tire. "The moment I crashed, it was completely over. I first wanted to finish the race, but that also seemed impossible three laps before the end."
The logical question then is, does Nys have an explanation for this? Last Wednesday he managed to ride to victory on the Koppenberg, one of the tougher crosses in a cyclo-cross season. Nys explains: "I had partly not recovered from the Koppenberg. But I do not know. I felt like I couldn't move the legs. Yes, I just don't think it has recovered, because of course the shape cannot suddenly disappear."
