Alpecin - Deceuninck rider Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado has won Superprestige Merksplas. She took the lead in the first lap and maintained it till the end, and secured her second victory of the season.
Marianne Vos started with the lead, and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado was trailing behind Vos. Denise Betsema had a poor start, whilst Lucinda Brand had an incident. By the end of the first lap, Alvarado had a lead of 10 seconds over Vos.
Inge van der Heijden and Betsema managed to overtake Vos in the next lap and started chasing Alvarado. Brand and Zoe Backstedt were almost 40 seconds behind Alvarado in the fourth lap, which further increased in the last lap.
Alvarado managed to gain 30 second lead against Betsema. Alvarado finished 16 seconds ahead of Betsema and secured her second victory of the season. Denise Betsema finished second. Inge van der Heijden took the bronze.
