Gino Mäder was one of the riders in evidence at Paris-Nice. The Swiss rider from Bahrain-Victorious did a solid performance at the race, finishing 5th overall with 3rd and 6th place on the top mountain stages.
"We need to be satisfied with Gino’s 5th place, which we defended well. It wasn’t easy to hunt for stages, but given how the race was dominated, we should be happy. Kamil Gradek came back after illness well, Filip Maciejuk did a good job, and Fred Wright learned a lot this week”, said Bahrain Victorious sports director Michal Golas in a team statement.
With this performance, Mäder proved that he can be one o the best climbers in the peloton and another good option that the teams has for general classifications at mountainous stage races. The third place at La Loge des Gardes where he arrived ahead of Jonas Vingegaard was a good display of just that. Golas knows that and is positive for the next ones.
"We are in good shape. There were not too many chances to play it differently tactics-wise here, and some of our guys had good weeks when we think about the upcoming races", Golas concluded.
