Stage 1 of the Tour des Pyrenees has been won by Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, however the focus was elsewhere on the opening day of the race. The vast amounts of traffic and danger in the final kilometers caused a lot of criticism.
The 2.1 race had it's finale in the city of Lourdes today, however the flat finale was as chaotic as it could be. Over the final kilometers there were several instances of vehicles moving on the road and spectators seemingly unaware of the race passing by. This led to close calls and a lot of questioning over what went wrong.
