The Australian criterium national championships ended with a strong victory from
Caleb Ewan, however that was not without it's controversy. There was a high-speed crash close to the finish line, and spectator footage shows the sprinter may have been to blame.
With no barriers on course, a rider lost control of his bike on the road, riding into the sidewalk and hitting a spectator at speed. Another fan managed to record the incident just meters away, in what is terrifying footage. A video recorded by a second spectator however shows that although Ewan did shoulder the rider who crashed, it appeared as he himself had an accidental touch of wheels which caused the moving reaction.
It looks dangerous, it's a miracle nobody has been killed in that incident🤐🙄🙄
I'm gonna assume that Caleb Ewan doesn't often get into shouldering contests, given his small size...
Barricades would be nice so as not to injure or kill spectators and riders.
It's ridiculous that there were no barriers in that spot.
Does not look intentional
