According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the German supermarket chain Lidl is going to get back into cycling and has reached an agreement with the current Trek-Segafredo team to become the main sponsor of the squad. Thus, as of July 1, i.e. from the start of the next Tour de France, the team will be renamed Lidl-Trek.
The German brand was a secondary sponsor of Patrick Lefevere's Quick-Step team for some time and, after a year's absence, returns to the international peloton in style, as the main sponsor of a WorldTour team. It is undoubtedly great news for cycling worldwide that major brands continue to be attracted.
