21-year-old Carlos Rodriguez was one of the breakout stars of last season with the INEOS Grenadiers' rider finishing 7th at his first career Grand Tour at the Vuelta a Espana.
“I was not expecting a 2022 like this at all. From the beginning, things started to go well for me” says the Spaniard. Alongside his impressive Vuelta, Rodriguez also claimed the first victory of his career on day five of the Vuelta al País Vasco. "Then the rest of the season went quite well, being able to obtain good results," he says.
Rodriguez's race calendar for next season is not yet confirmed however he has expressed a desire to ride either the Giro d'Italia or the Tour de France for the first time. "hopefully my goals and those of the team can go hand in hand," he revealed. “Now we have fewer leaders for the grand tours, but the important thing is to perform. If I do well, I will have my chances and I will be able to ride races."
