Successful nose surgery for Egan Bernal, who overcomes breathing problems

Egan Bernal has undergone another surgery during this off-season which is set to improve his health. The INEOS Grenadiers has undergone a septorhinoplasty operation which is set to diminish breathing problems that came from nose.

"Egan Bernal suffered from an obstructive nasal pathology, as well as a deviation of the septum which made it difficult for air to pass between the nostrils, especially in moments of great physical effort," one of the doctors who took part in the procedure told Soho. "Therefore, the septorhinoplasty operation was performed in order to eliminate this problem."

This surgery is however not related to the accident that Bernal suffered almost a year ago, but a separate issue. The Colombian ended his season earlier to return to Colombia for a knee surgery, that following several operations early in the year to fix his fractures. He's returned to competition in August and showed promising signs of gaining form before returning home.

Bernal has now been in Colombia for several months preparing for the 2023 season, putting in large riders and building towards the Tour de France where he hopes to return to his best level after a very dark chapter.
