Starting the season in much the same way as she left off at the end of 2023,
Lotte Kopecky secured the overall victory at the 2024
UAE Tour Women on Sunday. One day after her stunning mountain-top win on Jebel Hafeet.
"She's the best!" said Eurosport analyst
Adam Blythe of the women's world champion, as part of The Breakaway's post-race analysis. "She showed how good she is yesterday didn't she on that climb. She was just unbelievable."
Kopecky's list of achievements now includes victories on the track, in the sprint, in the classics, against the clock and after Saturday, on the top of mountains. Whilst many were somewhat surprised by the climbing legs shown by the Belgian, Blythe never had any doubts.
"I picked her. I said when we were talking about it in the makeup room, that she was incredible in the Tour last year and it wouldn't surprise me if she'd built on that already," he explains. "The Strava times... they went 43 seconds quicker up there this year. Obviously wind conditions play a part but it just shows that every year the level is going up and up. She's just dominant in everything at the moment."
