Pre-race favourite Marlen Reusser abandons World Championship time-trial

Marlen Reusser was one of the big favourites to take the Rainbow Jersey in the individual time-trial at the Glasgow World Championships. Sadly for the Swiss rider that won't be the case.

Visibly bandaged and feeling the effects of a crash in the mixed relay team time-trial, Reusser decided to step off her bike mid-way through her effort, clearly not at her best. As she sat at the side of the road collecting her thoughts, Reusser became overcome with emotion and disappointment, breaking into tears as she was given a massive hug.
