Peter Sagan will continue to compete on the road with the Slovakian team Pierre Baguette

Speculation has been confirmed: Peter Sagan, according to Slovak daily Pravda, has signed a contract with Pierre Baguette, marking his return to the roads before focusing on mountain bike racing from the 2024 season, Sport reports.

Sagan's goal is to compete in mountain biking at the Paris Olympics. He missed out on a direct place last season, but as a three-time road cycling world champion, he has the possibility of a wild card."Peter Sagan will participate in at least two road stage races as part of his preparation for the Olympics and then probably two more road races," one of his managers, Gabriel Uboldi, told Sport.

"I think it's the best news for his home country. For Peter Sagan it was one of the most likely alternatives," said Uboldi, noting that the road races with his new team are purely preparatory. In his new role, his brother Juraj will be the sport director. Sagan will compete in mountain biking with the Specialized Factory Racing team.

"We still have to resolve the fact that Specialized wants Peter to race on the road on a Specialized bike, while Pierre Bagutte uses Time bikes. But I think that won't be a problem," Uboldi explained.

Specific competitions in which Sagan will participate are expected to be confirmed in the coming days, including his presence at next year's Tour of Slovakia. "Apart from the Paris Olympics, the priority for the season will be the UCI World Cup cross country competitions," Uboldi added.
