Oscar Onley: "I made a small mistake, so unfortunately couldn’t go for a better result"

The first stage of the Tour of Britain saw a dramatic fight between the breakaway and the peloton, in which the peloton took control in the end, and Corbin Strong won the stage. DSM rider Oscar Onley crossed the finish line eighth, placing him under the top 10.

“I was in a good position in the final kilometer,” said Onley. He continues, “We rode really well as a team today before the final climb where the guys did a superb job getting me in position and riding on the front, which really meant a lot to me.”

While he was able to secure a decent position in the end, it could have been better if he had not missed the attack a few hundred meters before the finish line, nonetheless, he will continue the tour in the hunt for more opportunities. “I made a small mistake, so unfortunately couldn’t go for a better result. We’re looking forward to the coming stages and more opportunities for us,” concluded Onley.
