Mark Cavendish powers past Dylan Groenewegen to take victory on stage 2 of Tour de Hongrie

Mark Cavendish has boosted his hopes of a Tour a France stage win later this summer by showing some positive form with victory on stage 2 of the Tour de Hongrie.

Four riders got themselves into the early break, including Peter Sagan's Pierre Baguette Cycling teammate, Martin Voltr, who was on the attack for the second day running and started the day second in the general classification.

As they reached the final lap for the circuit, the breakaway's advantage was down to 1:47 over the peloton. With 15km to go though, the last remainder of the day's break, Christian Bagatin of Team MBH Bank Colpack Ballan remained 48 seconds out front. Sadly for Bagatin however, with just under 9km to go, he was swallowed by the bunch.

With attention then turning to preparation for the bunch sprint for the second day in a row, everyone was fighting for the wheel of Mark Cavendish. In the sprint, Sam Welsford was forced out by Dylan Groenewegen but it was Cavendish who powered to the win.
