Team Visma | Lease a Bike have won four races in one day. After conquering the final stage and overall classification at the Tour of Norway, they have now won the final stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia with Olav Kooij whilst Simon Yates arrived safely to conquer the overall classification.
An unusual start to the final stage of the Giro, the riders were greeted by none other than Pope León XIV before leaving Rome for a small celebration ride. The competitive aspect of the stage would begin with 75 kilometers to go, with a few riders going for it one last time in this Corsa Rosa.
Michael Hepburn, Josef Cerny, Martin Marcellusi, Enzo Paleni and Alessandro Verre gave it a shot, a group that moved at high speed, but the peloton closely controlled them with no hesitation and so the gap never grew above a few seconds.
Cerny was only caught with around 5 kilometers to go, his pace was quite high and the peloton already arrived to him with a suffocated bunch of leadouts. Visma's was by far the strongest entering the final kilometer, with Edoardo Affini and Wout van Aert keeping Olav Kooij in the perfect position into the slight uphill sprint.
Kaden Groves came with a lot of speed from behind, but ultimately Kooij would ride to his second stage win of the race, beating Groves and Matteo Moschetti in the final sprint.
