Kasper Asgreen's new season ambitions - "I would like to win races again in the spring"

Soudal-Quick Step rider Kasper Asgreen is optimistic that the upcoming season will be more fruitful in terms of victories, in contrast to last season. He aims to focus on the spring races.

"The last time Julian Alaphilippe rode Flemish races with us, I won 2 classics. Hopefully, it will be like that again," Asgreen told Sporza. The previous season was not particularly successful for him, as he struggled with illness and significant injuries, which also negatively impacted his Tour de France participation, ultimately resulting in his withdrawal from the race.

He decided to conclude his season in August and focused on his recovery. "After the Tour, we still tried to get my body back in order and get me ready for the World Championships. But after a while, it became clear that that was impossible," explains Asgreen.

He further added, "I then first took five weeks of rest without a bike so that my body could fully recover. After that rest period, I started cycling again slowly. That was also necessary to relax mentally."

The results he got from his hard work were promising. "Recently, I also did a strength test, and the results were very positive."I would like to win races again in the spring to thank the team for all the support they provided me during my rehabilitation.”

Together with Julian Alaphilippe, Asgreen will aim to compete in the same spring races. “The last time Julian competed in the Flemish classics, I won two races. Hopefully, it will be like that again. Either Julian will compete at the front for the win, and I will support him. I would be very happy with that,” concluded Asgreen.
