"It's completely different, but I liked it" - Jos van Emden on his sports director debut

Jos van Emden made his sports director debut on Friday. The former Jumbo-Visma cyclist has switched to the team car of Visma | Lease a Bike's women's team and at the Tour Down Under he rode in the support caravan for the first time.

"It's completely different, isn't it," Van Emden laughed afterwards. "But I liked it. This leaves me wanting more," he said on the Dutch team's website.

"The team came to the final to sprint. We can build on this," Van Emden looks back at Lieke Nooijen's sprint. "For today I am very satisfied with this. It is the first race of the year for everyone and you cannot expect the sprint train to be perfectly coordinated. We'll continue working to make everything click."

"There will be no sprinting in the coming days. A number of riders are given a free role with us. Hopefully we can follow attacks and keep up on the climbs," Van Emden looks ahead.
