Runner-up last year at last year's World Championships in Wollongong in the individual time-trial, Stefan Küng will once again be one of the favourites for the Rainbow Jersey on Friday in Scotland.
Clearly in good form, Küng was fifth last Sunday in the men's elite road race and more recently, helped Switzerland retain their title in the mixed relay team time-trial. “But this is completely different,” Küng maintains. “Back then there were maybe 45 corners, now there are four and that on a course of almost 50 kilometres.”
“The finish will hurt your legs, that's for sure. I especially like the second part," he continues. "The first is almost a bit boring because you constantly have to sit aerodynamically, with your head down. On top of that, you also have to make sure that you don't go too fast. It will be difficult.”
