Cofidis rider Victor Lafay was the best-placed Frenchman at La Flèche Wallone. Finishing sixth, the 27-year-old has expressed his delight at both his performance and his result.
"I'm 6th in La Flèche Wallone... frankly, it's great," Lafay revealed almost in disbelief in a post-race interview. "The most important thing here is to be well placed at the foot of the Mur de Huy and that was the case thanks to the hard work of the team, in particular Anthony Perez. He was solid and present when needed."
After victory last week at the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs, Lafay is enjoying some of the best form of his life at the moment and this sixth-placed finish, just three seconds behind Tadej Pogacar at La Fleche Wallone is just the latest sign that Lafay is a potential winner of any race he enters.
