"I was not strong enough today to win" - Jonas Abrahamsen happy with second place and two jerseys in Bologna

The 2024 Tour de France already wrote many stories and we're still just two days into the race. Perhaps the biggest hero of the stages in Italy was Norwegain Jonas Abrahamsen. The 28-year-old from Uno-X Mobility joined breakaways on both days and for his efforts, he was rewarded with lead in Points and Mountain Classifications as well as second place in Bologna.

"It was a good day," he told organisers after the stage. In fact more than that for Abrahamsen, who now leads two rankings after the opening weekend. "I got more points for the Mountain jersey and also I’ve got this green jersey. I’ve also got second place on the stage so I’m really happy about that. I was not strong enough today to win so I’m very happy to get second place today."

Will we see the strong Norwegian on the move again in a mostly flat stage from Piacenza to Torino? "We will see how it all goes now after two very hard days. Maybe I did not have such good legs today after yesterday, so maybe now it will be a bit of an easier day tomorrow," Abrahamsen hints that he'll probably sit back to save some strengths for more suiting stages later in the race.
