“I don't know how to do that" - Olympic Games ambitions certain to hinder Lotte Kopecky's 2024 Tour de France Femmes

Lotte Kopecky is by no means a pure climber but her versatility and quality on the bike has led to a tremendous Tour de France Femmes this year, where she finished second in the overall classification. However, it'll be hard to repeat that next year, as the race almost collides with the Olympic Games where she will hope to perform.

Kopecky has the Olympic Games where she'll ride both on the road and track, and her planned Omnium event will take place on the 11th of August whilst the Tour de France Femmes starts the exact next day. “I don't know how to do that. We will soon sort it out with the team and the federation and we will have to find a compromise. Abolishing the Olympic omnium will not be an option," she told Sporza.

Hence, it becomes a difficult situation for Kopecky to be aiming at the French race at the top of her game, as she will certainly look to peak in the week before, and will have to handle both fatigue and the adaptation to the track bike that will come from the days prior to the Tour de France Femmes. Part of Team SD Worx, who have dominated the race this year, she is expected to have a saying when it comes to the overall classification.
