Having started the 2023 season in electric form, Tadej Pogacar has understandably been receiving much adoration. The latest to lavish the praise on the Slovenian is Cyrille Guimard.
"Pogacar, he is out of the competition there, he is untouchable today," says the vastly experienced Frenchman to Cyclism'Actu. "Pogacar's demonstrations are still impressive, and this in the face of more than serious opposition, with in particular a David Gaudu who has gone up a notch."
Indeed, Pogacar's Paris-Nice dominance was made all the more impressive by the standard of his opposition, including Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard. This, Guimard believes makes Pogacar's win all the more impressive by comparison to Primoz Roglic's at Tirreno-Adriatico.
"I was surprised by the opponents' inability to put him in difficulty as soon as we were on courses that suited him," he said of Roglic's victory. "I have the impression that this edition of Tirreno-Adriatico was not of an exceptional level."
