The 23-year old Dutchman has briefly showed great legs at the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana, but has since not shown the same legs throughout the spring. The Giro d'Italia was the main goal and although it still lays some weeks from now the worries aren't severe, but Arensman struggled in the opening day of the
Tour of the Alps. He wasn't set to work for the British team that controlled the race, but was dropped in the main ascent of the day.
He then let off the pace and arrived several minutes behind teammate
Tao Geoghegan Hart. Arensman now has a more clear role and will look to build his form towards the Corsa Rosa alongside the block that is racing over in Italy this week. "You have to give him that time because he is still very young. He has only been a professional for 2.5 years and he already has a great track record for someone his age. But as a team we showed a good spirit," Hart concluded.
