It has been revealed nearly 20 million French viewers tuned into the first ever Tour de France Femmes last week. It received a live coverage of almost 22 hours over the span of eight days. Although unsurprisingly, it only gathered half of the men’s tour views, then again, the Tour de France is one of the biggest cycling events of the year.
Eurosport reported 14 million viewers across seven European countries, with the Netherlands having 45% share. The official race website saw 1.5 million new visitors and 2.8 million visits in total.

Annemiek Van Vleuten sealed her overall victory. The final stage unsurprisingly contributed 45.6% of the overall audience share. Video clips from the tour were viewed more than 22 million times on social media making the tour a big hit.
