Daniel Martinez wins Coppa Sabatini as breakaway holds off peloton

Coppa Sabatini commenced with rainfall. But the peloton was prepared in advance. After a long day in breakaway Daniel Martínez won the race. This is the fourth victory of Colombian rider this season.

The breakaway included, Esteban Chaves, Andrea Piccolo (EF Education-EasyPost), Aleksandr Vlasov (Bora-hansgrohe), Guillaume Martin (Cofidis), Daniel Martinez (Ineos Grenadiers), Lorenzo Rota (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert), Einer Rubio (Movistar), Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates), Natnael Tesfazion (Drone Hopper-Androni Toys), Mathieu Burgaudeau and Alexis Vuillermoz (TotalEnergies). The group took a lead of 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

With 18 kilometers to go, Vlasov decided to increase the pace and distanced himself with a lead of 27 seconds. Daniel Martínez decided to follow Vlasov. Soon Guillaume Martin, Odd Christian Eiking and Esteban Chaves joined the duo.

Ineos Grenadiers rider Daniel Martínez crossed the finish line first and secured the win. Odd Christian Eiking finished behind him while, Guillaume Martin finished third.
