Caleb Ewan has begun the season with a bang, winning the Schwalbe Classic. He now sets his sights on the Tour Down Under, where he hopes to claim the overall title.
He unveiled his objectives for this year. "I want to add a Monument to my palmares and I think that the Italian race is the only one I can win. I also want to win as many sprints as possible in 2023," Ewan told RTBF.
Prior to 2022, he had not been exposed to the talents and abilities of Arnaud De Lie, but after observing his performances, he has come to possess a deep-seated belief in his potential and feels that he can depend upon him to deliver victories. “I will sometimes be lined up with the team's young sprinter Arnaud De Lie. I must admit that I didn't know him before his arrival in 2022, but I quickly understood that he is a great talent who will shine in the classics and in the massive sprints of the grand tours.”
The young Belgian rider made a reputation for himself by winning nine races in his first year as a professional. “His presence will take the pressure off me. If I am not doing well, I will know that there is someone else in the team who can aim for victory. So I'm ready to help him, and I'm sure it will be vice versa,” concluded Ewan.
