Androni rider Filippo Tagliani fails to find new contract: "The teams are all full, and I have no hope"

Filippo Tagliani is in a tough spot after Drone Hopper-Androni Giocattoli chose to compete at the Continental level and left the Italian rider without a contract.

Even his impressive performance in Giro d'Italia failed to attract any contract. He is speculating about ending his career. "I am without a team, and there are no serious negotiations. The teams are all full, and I have no hope,” Tagliani told SpazioCiclismo.

He further adds, “Unfortunately, I started looking for a new team late, but I still thought I could stay. This is a common situation for my former teammates from last year, almost no one has found a team for 2023. The only personal regret I have is that already after the 2022 Giro d'Italia, I should have changed team."

He is ready to race at the Continental level, but then again, no team has space available. Continental teams have a little calendar with the professionals, and therefore, it doesn't make much sense for them to take you. I'm coming from a good season, but all the formations I contacted gave me that they were already full. I mean, they didn't say no because I'm not strong enough or lack results. The problem is that there is no space,” explains Tagliani.

In the meantime, he remains optimistic but hints at retirement if he is not able to obtain a job. “For now, I continue to train, but I don't know how long I will continue. Doing a year just training, hoping for who knows what, is difficult,” concluded Tagliani.
