Thymen Arensman took part in his first race as an Ineos Grenadiers rider. The Dutchman rode in X2O Trofee Baal wearing the jersey of the British team and finished in the 24th position.
It was his first cross of the season, so he was a bit rusty but his teammate Pidcock made a name for himself and the team even though a crash in the final prevented him from winning.
“I did enjoy myself, I see it as good training for the road season,” Arensman posted on social media. He had not competed in a cross-race since 2020, so it was a different experience compared to road races. “But damn, cyclocross is so different from road racing. I wasn't used to that anymore,” said Arensman.
Arensman was a well-known name in the field of the cross, but then he chose to focus on road season and took a break from crosses. The Dutchman will race in two more crosses this month, X2O Trofee Herentals and X2O Trofee Koksijde.
