Andre Greipel names Fabio Jakobsen the quickest sprinter in the peloton - "For me he is the fastest of all"

Legendary sprinter Andre Greipel knows a thing or two about finishing fast and according to the German, Fabio Jakobsen is the quickest man on 2 wheels in the peloton today.

In The Road Book 2022, the now-retired Greipel is asked to take a look at the sprinters of today and rank his Top 10. "In the current peloton, it is nice to see so many sprinters battling for the win race after race" Greipel says. "I could have written about another five – but these ten riders are always consistent, with a track record of delivering wins over years or even decades"

On Fabio Jakobsen, Greipel says he "looks like a machine. His body silhouette is pure muscle, very athletic. The ‘heavyweight’ sprints don’t really exist any more, but Fabio is made for them." Adding, "Before a sprint he is really relaxed and knows what he is doing without getting stressed. It is also a miracle that he can perform as he does after his appalling crash."

The 26-year-old Dutchman has 6 Grand Tour stage wins to his name, is a former points jersey winner at the Vuelta a Espana and is the current European Champion. As far as Greipel is concerned there is no doubt, "he is the fastest of all the sprinters at the moment."
