The second edition of the Madrid Criterium is set to be an exciting cycling spectacle that promises to exceed expectations. This event, which will take place on Sunday, October 29, in the heart of the Spanish capital, promises to bring the stars of cycling closer to the fans than ever before.
One of the main attractions of this event is the incorporation of Mathieu van der Poel to the Madrid Criterium peloton. In addition to the Dutchman, there will be a representation of quality Spanish cyclists, including Juan Ayuso. Those who can not go to the streets of Madrid to enjoy it live can follow it on Eurosport.
The course, will run entirely on Gran Vía, one of the most emblematic places in the city. The start and finish line will be located next to the iconic Plaza del Callao, providing a spectacular backdrop for the event. Runners will start each lap in the direction of Calle Alcalá, making a 180-degree turn just off Fuencarral. From that point, they will return in the opposite direction until reaching another sharp turn at the junction with San Bernardo, before facing the final stretch towards the finish line.
This circuit design is no coincidence, as it seeks to further strengthen the link between fans and cycling's elite. The course is freely accessible from any of the many streets that lead to Gran Vía, allowing spectators to enjoy the race from different points along the circuit.
The Plaza del Callao will be the epicenter of the event, hosting several areas for cyclists, VIP guests, media and complementary activities of MADRID CRITERIUM. The awards ceremony will also take place at this location, giving spectators the opportunity to be close to the champions and celebrate their exploits.
