Elimination 🌈✌️
Lotte Kopecky is having a brilliant year so far, dominating in the Spring Classics, arguably the performance of her career to finish second at the Tour de France Femmes and now successfully defending her Elimination Race world title in Glasgow.
"I felt good and it's nice to start the World Cup like that," she modestly told Sporza post-race where she beat Frenchwoman Valentine Fortin in the final sprint. "I read the race well. If you make the right decisions at the right times, you will get very far in the elimination."
"I felt she wanted to distance herself. I was a bit surprised," Kopecky continues, analysing the final sprint vs Fortin. "But I was able to react quickly and I still had something in my legs."
Finally, Kopecky casts her eyes to the remainder of the World Championships where she will try her best to add a rainbow jersey from the points race to her collection. "Many scenarios are possible in that race. I will also be driving around with a red flag on my head, it will not be an easy race. But this is a confidence boost and it is a nice bonus."
