Jeffrey Hoogland: "I put everything I had to ride well in the time trial, there was really little that could go wrong"

Defending his third world title in Paris, Jeffrey Hoogland rode to victory on Friday in the kilometer time trial .The Dutchman beat Melvin Landerneau by one and a half seconds.

The importance of a good night's sleep cannot be overstated for a good performance. Sadly, Hoogland didn't catch up on some beauty rest. "I woke up in the morning dizzy and didn't feel so good," he told NOS.

His schedule is tightly packed for this week, a day before his gold he won silver at the World Cup keirin. "You go so deep here for several days. If you then fall again and get physical discomfort on top of it, it's really not pleasant," Hoogland told NOS.

Continuing his story, he says, "I had my sights set on the kilometre time trial. The legs were good the last few days, and I put everything I had to ride well in the time trial. Everything I did everything right in the final, there was really little that could go wrong. That was a goal, but in the end, we were mainly going for gold. "Hoogland will continue Track Cycling World Championship on Saturday and Sunday, where he will try for another gold.
