Wout Van Aert diversifies his recovery from Vuelta crash with mini-gravel Worlds training session

Wout Van Aert already called it a season after his crash at Vuelta a Espana, which saw him lose green and polka dot jerseys as well as a bit of skin in the process. Last weekend the Gravel World Championship in and around Leuven and Van Aert, 8th from last year's Worlds, could not participate due to his recovery. On Wednesday afternoon he took matters into his own hands and raced a good bit over the unpaved roads himself.

Anyone who changes their map type on Strava can show on the map which parts were ridden on unpaved terrain. For example, during Van Aert's ride we saw a lot of dotted lines on the route, and the type of ride was also changed to gravel. A small ode from the man who would have preferred to ride the World Championship last weekend? Maybe, although the star of Visma | Lease a Bike will mainly have just enjoyed the surroundings. At least, that's what his title 'Skitterend' (= stunning, refers to the sights) on the popular sports app suggests!
