Thibau Nys has lost his top form. In recent weeks, a victory seems to be far away for the young rider from Baloise Trek Lions, who was on a winning streak in the early weeks of the season. However the 21-year-old tells WielerFlits that thinks he can still turn the tides for the remainder of the season.
On Sunday Nys had a bad day, finishing nineteenth, almost five minutes behind winner Eli Iserbyt. A day earlier, in Boom, he had the legs to keep fighting and managed to finish sixth. "I couldn't get into my rhythm at the beginning of the cross, I couldn't find the right pace," he said at the time.
"It is certainly not disastrous, but I have not been on the podium for a month. That's sport and I'm just trying to work my way back to that highest level. I think I was not far from it in Dublin. I had a really good feeling there, that was close to my best form," Nys explains-
"I think things can go in the right direction again if I train well for another two weeks. I'm not going to take my cross bike with me, because I can't train on it anyway. And if I have to follow teammates with my 46 downhill, that's not going to work out."
