A smiling Felipe Orts spoke after his historic podium finish at the Superprestige Niel with the organization's press and highlighted his achievement as something incredible for Spanish cycling:
"I'm very happy, getting on the podium in a Superprestige was something unimaginable for a Spanish rider very recently and now we're here, so great."
He acknowledged that, despite a couple of punctures, he had a very good feeling throughout the day's racing. "I had a very good feeling in the first part of the race, in the middle part I had a couple of punctures, but I kept close to Laurens Sweeck, and in the end I had a very good feeling and managed to finish on the podium."
The multiple Spanish champion prefers slow races. "These conditions suit me better, I prefer slow circuits to fast ones, normally I prefer more technical circuits, today it was very muddy and very hard, but the important thing is that I had a good feeling and when that happens any circuit is perfect for me."
Regarding Sunday's World Cup, he did not want to comment, it was time to enjoy the victory: "Tomorrow will be another day, we'll see what happens, today has been a very important day for me."
