Julian Mertens suffered severe injuries in a training accident last week and as a result, the Bingoal WB rider was put under artificial coma to ease his treatment.
Julian Mertens has awakened from an artificial coma and is improving day by day Bingoal WB has reported in two subsequent updates on the Belgian rider's well-being. At the University Hospital in Antwerp, Mertens was able to communicate briefly with his family on Saturday morning without ventilator support. The team concluded the first short statement with the message that a long rehabilitation period now awaits.
On Monday there was more good news: "The medication has been reduced and Julian has already been able to do some exercises in bed with the physiotherapist. He gets tired easily but he's really making progress," the team confirms.
