Nacer Bouhanni crashes out of competition once again but escapes injury at Eschborn-Frankfurt

There is no end to Nacer Bouhanni's agony. The Frenchman crashed again on Monday during Eschborn-Frankfurt. The Arkéa-Samsic sprinter then decided to step off the bike. After a medical check, Bouhanni was released with a shock, since - at first glance - he has not sustained any serious injuries from his crash.

Sports director Mickäel Levenau announced this in a press release. "Due to the impact of the crash, Nacer still suffers from a large bump on his shin." Bouhanni crashed together with his teammate Alan Riou. Riou was able to continue his race, but Bouhanni gave up after his crash. For sprint leader Bouhanni, who has already managed to book seventy professional victories in his career, it is yet another mental blow.

The 32-year-old Frenchman was out of racing for months last year due to a broken cervical vertebra, but started the new season in good spirits this year. However, the fast man was involved in a heavy crash in the Trofeo Palma and the Région Pays de la Loire Tour and therefore fell to the ground for the third time in a short period of time.

Bouhanni has to make do with a sixth place in Milan-Torino this season and a seventh place in the opening stage of the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var. He is still hoping to return to the Tour de France later in the summer.
