The brilliant Mads Pedersen has moved into the early race lead at the Tour de la Provence thanks to a prologue victory in Marseille.
Prior to the day's action, Mads Pedersen was the favourite for overall victory at the French, 2.1, stage race and his performance in the prologue will have done nothing to dampen any expectations. The Danish star of Lidl-Trek absolutely blitzed the course, completing his efforts in 5:19 over 10 seconds quicker than anyone else at that point.
Although, Jakob Söderqvist got close, clocking 5:25 and Samuel Watson completed the podium, at 5:30, no one could come close to Pedersen.
