Fabio Aru does not seem to be able to cycle for a while. The 33-year-old Italian retired as a professional cyclist after 2021, but is still extremely active on the bike as an ambassador for Specialized and clothing brand Assos. However, a fall during a ride on Tuesday resulted in an unplanned hospital stay.
Aru's crash was not too serious, however, the climber's left thumb did take a turn to the left when Aru hit the asphalt. That resulted in some pretty bizarre images on his Instagram Story, the thumb was clearly broken.
After waiting for hours in the hospital - because that's how it goes in Italy - Aru was finally operated on and given a plaster cast. Luckily we still have the photos, he must have thought, because he posted them on Instagram from the hospital.
