34-year-old Belgian Tom Meeusen has officially called time on his professional career. Taking to Instagram he announced "I quit. This time really, thanks to everyone for the beautiful years."
In his last race on December 10th at the Robotland Cyclocross in Essen, Meeusen would finish in a respectable 8th position. In his retirement message however, the Belgian alludes to the fact that his performance levels weren't where he had hoped. "I tried to turn the tide again in Essen, but I have to be honest with myself. The max is out"
