Michael Vanthourenhout added Val di Sole to his list of achievements. This is his fifth victory of the season.
"It went really well today," Vanthourenhout said in the post-race interview. He continues, "I am happy with this win. It was enjoyable to ride in front of the Italian crowd." Although he avoided any accidents on the snowy course, his teammate Eli Iserbyt was not so fortunate. "But everyone makes a lot of mistakes here. It was very difficult. It was very treacherous, but I always do well in such races."
It did not take Vanthourenhout much effort to win. After dropping Niels Vandeputte, Laurens Sweeck, and Eli Iserbyt in the third lap, he rode at his own pace. Although Vandeputte tried to challenge him, but a flat tyre hindered his chances. "Niels had a flat tyre, I think. But my own pace was also very high. I tried to keep that up throughout the race. It was enough to win,” concluded the Belgian.
