Michael Vanthourenhout has won the Belgian national championships cyclocross. He beat Laurens Sweeck to secure the title.
Thibau Nys began the race well, followed by Laurens Sweeck. Michael Vanthourenhout quickly joined the front runners, while Eli Iserbyt was slightly behind the trio. Nys's progress was slowed by a fall in the mud, allowing Iserbyt to overtake him.
Iserbyt had an unfortunate day as he fell hard in the mud, and Nys was once again in the third position. The leading duo managed to create a gap of 15 seconds, but both leaders were unable to distance themselves from each other.
The atmosphere was tense until the final moment, Michael Vanthourenhout secured the victory by crossing the finish line first, Laurens Sweeck settled for silver, and Thibau Nys came in third place.
